Pet Surgery in Louisburg
For many pets, surgery is an inevitable part of their care, whether it’s a routine spay/neuter procedure or something more complex. Town and Country Equine & Pet Hospital offers soft tissue surgical services for dogs and cats, keeping their safety and comfort at the forefront at all times. We use advanced equipment to monitor the internal temperature, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen, and EKG of every patient throughout every phase of surgery, for their safety. Pets are monitored by a certified technician during surgery and recovery. We also use advanced anesthetic and pain management protocols; our veterinary surgeon is a member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM), so you can be confident that your pet will be in good hands while in our care.
Before Your Pet’s Surgery
We recommend pre-anesthetic blood work and a urinalysis for all patients prior to surgery, especially for senior pets. This allows us to determine if there are any underlying health issues that need to be treated first. For your pet’s comfort, we perform all procedures on heated surgery tables. All patients receive an intravenous (IV) catheter. If needed, patients also receive fluids throughout surgery. Pain management injections are also administered before surgery.
After Your Pet’s Surgery
After your pet’s surgery is completed, they will be moved to the recovery area, where they will continue to be monitored by one of our certified veterinary technicians. Pain management is a top priority for our staff following surgery. When your pet is ready to go home, each owner receives a discharge consultation. At this time, we explain post-operative care and medication as well as answer any questions you may have.
